Over the last few years, India is the world’s largest sourcing destination for the information technology (IT) industry, accounting more than two-third of our net exports worth 124-130 billion dollars. The industry employs around one crore of our countrymen and more importantly, it has led the economic transformation of the country.
India’s cost competitiveness in providing IT services, which is approximately 3-4 times cheaper than the US and continues to be the mainstay of its unique selling proposition (USP) in the global sourcing market.
To pass the benefit of this economic boom to the indigenous IT entrepreneurs belonging to Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, we have toiled hard to come up with AIM-IT, Association for MSMEs in Information Technology.
MSMEs not only play crucial role in providing large employment opportunities at comparatively lower capital cost than large industries but also help in industrialization of rural & backward areas, thereby, reducing regional imbalances, assuring more equitable distribution of national income and wealth.
Though this sector is an important industry enabler, it is prone to many critical issues and challenges which require strong policy advocacy and representation at the state as well as national level. Central government’s important initiatives like ‘Make in India’, ‘Digital India’ and ‘Smart Cities’ have tremendous opportunities for the MSMEs in the IT sector. It goes without saying that MSMEs need a strong platform and support to be competitive with large and multi-national enterprises.
We at AIM-IT see start-ups and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in IT as exciting and effective instruments for India’s transformation by providing more jobs to the youth and empowering our economy at the same time. We are committed to realise the potential of lakhs of MSMEs in IT that are spread across hundreds cities, towns and villages.
With these objectives and ambitions in mind, we cordially invite you to join AIM-IT and help us in making a conducive environment for IT MSMEs so that they emerge as global players, making India a formidable force in the IT sector.
