Vinit Goenka is a politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party for past twenty-five years from Booth level worker at Mumbai to national level politics as the National Co-Convenor of IT Cell. He was the Spokesperson for BJP Delhi Pradesh.
Before joining the BJP, he was actively engaged with ABVP. He is comfortable in khadi as he is in a double-breasted suit. He worked in the corporate sector for twelve years before plunging into active politics. He is a politician with a firm commitment to the nation, passionate about tapping technology to change the way India works and working towards making India data and knowledge sovereign. Vinit has proven expertise in various fields, data sovereignty, information technology, transportation & infrastructure, and agriculture.
He is a nominated Member of Programme Committee at Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS) , under Ministry of Culture, GOI, where Hon’ble Prime Minister of India , Shri Narendra Modi ji is the Chairperson.
His nationalist credo keeps him occupied in various capacities in the Government of India. He was a Member of the Governing Council of CRIS – Centre for Railway Information System, an organisation under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India for nearly 7 years.
He was appointed a Member of the IT Task Force in the Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways and Shipping, Government of India in 2015.
In these capacities, he works closely with several Union Ministers on the host of nationwide IT initiatives launched to achieve Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mission, ‘Minimum Government Maximum Governance.
Shri Goenka has served the BJP as the National Co-convener of the BJP central IT Cell. He spearheaded the digital strategy of the party from 2006 starting with the Maharashtra State level till the run-up to the general elections of 2014. His contribution in the landslide victory of the BJP in 2014 has been widely recognized by the party, media and society. He was also instrumental in the BJP 2014 Delhi elections led by Dr Harsh Vardhan as CM candidate.
Apart from his role in active politics, Vinit has taken up several constructive initiatives for the welfare and development of India and society at large, such as Data Sovereignty for India through CKS, Initiative called AIMIT for development of IT MSMEs, #ITforParivahan for IT initiatives in Transportation, #IT4Rail for IT initiatives in railways, #IT4Commerce , #IT4MHRD.
His Public initiatives like #LetstalkGovernance engaging people for accountability in politics, #MumbaiMetroMess highlighting the UPA apathy towards Mumbai metro project and Nirman Eye donation awareness campaigns have earned huge applause and recognition.
He has spearheaded the campaign #HinduDeniedEquality highlighting the inequality meted out to Hindus and deprivation of their rights in different spheres of activity.
As the Secretary of Centre for Knowledge Sovereignty, a thinktank working in the space of data security, data sovereignty, data privacy, cybersecurity 2030 and knowledge sovereignty with special focus on defence, education and information technology sectors, he has been instrumental in creating awareness in the country as well as globally on these important issues.
He has co-authored a Book “Data Sovereignty: The Pursuit of Supremacy” The First ever book on Data Localisation and Digital Colonisation from Indian perspective. (Released on 21st May 2019) at Bombay Stock Exchange and then released in Delhi and across India. The book is now a reference guide in several institutions including IIM Vizag and part of discussions on this subject globally.
In 2020 , he authored a book “Enemies Within” ,a thought provoking book that exposes the anti India narrative driving forces who try to demean our nation and create social and religious divide in the country. The book has been released in English and Hindi Version.
A prolific speaker, orator and thinker, he regularly participates in discussions on national issues on television channels in English, Hindi, Marathi especially on wide range of subjects from politics to economics to data sovereignty. He speaks at various fora and events and writes for leading newspapers on issues close to his heart. He has been quoted by several national and international newspapers as well as journals.
Given his affability and flair for multi-tasking, he has been able to achieve milestones across sectors with ease. Not one to rest on his laurels, he keeps checking each goal as he achieves it and creates new ones as he goes along. A bit like Robert Frost, he has promises to keep and miles to go before he hangs up his boots.
