Nanak Naam Chardi Kala, teraa bhane sarbaht da bhala.

Nanak asks for name of God, with that comes blessing, peace and prosperity for everyone in this world.

Couple of days back me and my wife walked down from Ashoka road to the Shivaji Stadium Metro Station at New Delhi. While walking on a hot summer evening, we happened to see Bangla Sahab Gurudwara and we went inside for Darshan.

I felt a sense of tranquility, Stoicism and forbearance, after paying an obeisance at Gurudwara Bangla Sahab in New Delhi. The moment you enter the precinct of gurudwara its serenity mesmerizes you engulfing the soul to its core.

The best thing of the shrine apart from spirituality is its management as the place is ostensibly clean despite the fact that thousands of devotees pay adoration each day. The Delhi Gurudwara Management Committee has hired fewer employees as hundreds of aficionados contribute voluntarily in elevating sanctity of the shrine daily.

It is really difficult to dissimilitude a billionaire from a laborer once you enter the shrine as everyone is discharging his duty diligently. For collecting shoes to mopping and brooming the place or managing the crowd, every stupendous or menial task is performed by the visiting devotees. This not only helps in maintaining the decorum of the place but also bestow in raising the moral standards.

The community kitchen serve food to thousands irrespective of the caste, creed and religion they belong to. To have langar sitting in a queue with your fellow countrymen is really a solacing experience. We drank the holy water from a little girl child who was standing in queue for offering “Seva” to all the devotees by serving water from the holy tank.

The passion of collective contribution and serving the humanity is primarily the motivating reason behind the rise and rise of our Sikh brethren.
