About Vinit Goenka
Shri Vinit Goenka is a politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party ,who is as comfortable in khadi as he is in a double-breasted suit. An active politician with a firm commitment to the nation, he is passionate about tapping technology to change the way India works. Shri Goenka has proven expertise in various fields, in particular information technology, transportation & infrastructure, and agriculture.
His nationalist credo keeps him occupied in various capacities in the Government of India. He is a Member of the Governing Council of CRIS – Centre for Railway Information System, an organisation under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.
Shri Goenka was appointed a Member of the IT Task Force in the Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways and Shipping, Government of India.
In these capacities, he works closely with Union Ministers – Shri Nitin Gadkari, Shri Suresh Prabhu and others – on the host of nationwide IT initiatives launched to achieve Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mission, ‘Minimum Government Maximum Governance.’
Shri Goenka has served the BJP as the National Co-convener of the BJP central IT Cell. He spearheaded the digital strategy of the party from 2006 starting with the Maharashtra State level till the run-up to the general elections of 2014. His contribution in the landslide victory of the BJP in 2014 has been widely recognized by the party, media and society.
Apart from his role in active politics, Shri Goenka has taken up several constructive initiatives for the welfare and development of India and society at large, such as AIMIT for development of IT MSMEs, #ITforParivahan for IT initiatives in Transportation, #IT4Rail for IT initiatives in railways, #IT4Commerce , #IT4MHRD and Public initiatives like #LetstalkGovernance, #MumbaiMetroMess and Nirman Eye donation awareness campaigns. He has spearheaded the campaign #HinduDeniedEquality highlighting the inequality meted out to Hindus and deprivation of their rights in different spheres of activity.
As the Secretary of Centre for Knowledge Sovereignty, a thinktank working in the space of data security, data sovereignty, data privacy, cybersecurity 2030 and knowledge sovereignty with special focus on defence, education and information technology sectors, he has been instrumental in creating awareness in the country as well as globally on these important issues.
A prolific speaker, orator and thinker, he regularly participates in discussions on national issues on television channels. He speaks at various fora and events and writes for leading newspapers on issues close to his heart. He has been quoted by several national and international newspapers as well as journals.
Given his affability and flair for multi-tasking, he has been able to achieve milestones across sectors with ease. Not one to rest on his laurels, he keeps checking each goal as he achieves it and creates new ones as he goes along. A bit like Robert Frost, he has promises to keep and miles to go before he hangs up his boots.
